New branding and re-launch

A lot has changed in the landscape of esports over the last year and a half since we launched, particularly with Overwatch – the game we focussed on exclusively. We took some time off to reflect and figure out how to move forward, now we’re ready to bounce back bigger and better than before.

Out with the old, in with the new (logo)

Our previous logo was designed by the wonderful Audrey Coent, and was everything I asked for and more when it came to the finished product. It was important for me to make sure the brand had a strong and recognisable presence among the clutter of Overwatch tournaments and broadcasts, and it certainly achieved just that. With our tournaments making a return after such a long break, and with the way we manage the events changing, I knew we had to come back with a new look – a fresh lick of paint, if you will.

Where players come first

Players have always been a priority here at The Plays, but we’ve never exclusively advertised the fact. Our mission for 2018 and beyond is to create an environment where they feel heard, valued and comfortable. I believe this will bring out the absolute best in our competitors, which will lift the level of competition. Other aspects of our operation such as tournament broadcasts, content and community interaction will sit up at the top-end of our priorities much as they have done in previous years.

Of course the term “Where players come first” is a double-entendre; Players are a priority, and players also win our events. Join us on our mission by using the hashtag #WherePlayersComeFirst on social media.

So, now that you’re up to speed on what’s changed and why, let’s get ready to make 2018 a year to remember. Thanks for all of the support so far!
